I'm sorry I haven't read the books, but I thought the movie was very interesting.
I appreciate reading the posts because it did not make sense to me that Percy was Prosiden's first son and/or only son. The prophesy not mentioned in the movie, does seem to fill in a few blanks.

I was wondering – the characters all seem to be 'sons or daughers' of the various gods – there was no mention of 'grand-son, or great-great-great-great-grandson' of the gods. Is this because the demi-gods, being half-breeds, are sterile? Nor was there any mention of previous demi-god step-siblings, other than that they existed – being mortal, are they presumed to be all dead?
