Well there you go! As usual, (I think) He is ending his tour in his hometown of San Antonio! Here is what he had to say on his tour dates on his blog Myth and Mystery:

The tour is a nice mix of new places and return visits. I’m always happy to visit my friends in Decatur and Austin, and of course I love wrapping up the tour with a hometown event in San Antonio. It’s been quite a while since I got to visit the wonderful folks at Children’s Book World in Haverford.

All you folks that were asking for a Philadelphia area signing, that’s you! And of course, I love the fans in Chicagoland. Hope to see you guys at Anderson’s.

My readers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area have been asking me to come up that way for a long time. It’s been over three years since I last did a public signing there. The event at the Southlake Barnes & Noble is for you guys. I hope to see you there!

It will be my first visit to Toronto. I’ve been getting a ton of mail from my Canadian readers for years asking me to come up that way, and finally I get to. I don’t have details on which Indigo location we’ll be using, but stay tuned for that. It’ll also be my first visit to Politics and Prose in Washington, D.C., a store I’ve heard so much about. I still feel bad about the folks who came to see me in rain at the National Book Festival last fall and didn’t make it through the signing line (Honestly, guys, I would have stayed and signed for another two hours, but they wouldn’t let me).

Hopefully this will be a second chance for you D.C.-area readers to come by and get those books signed. I owe you! I’m also looking forward to my second visit to Minnesota. The Bookcase is near the St. Paul/Minneapolis area, so I hope you fans up there can join us!

Of course, the hardest part of any tour is all the places I can’t go. You will notice the West Coast is not on this tour, but we haven’t forgotten about you. Remember, I’ll be touring again when the new Camp Half-Blood series starts in the fall, so there’s a good chance I’ll have more events in your part of the country, plus I hope some of the other great places we weren’t able to fit in to the May tour.

And if you aren’t able to make an event, most of the host stores are very happy to take orders for signed books. Contact them before the event, I’ll sign the books when I’m there, and the store will ship them to you.

Logan Lerman MTV 2010 Movie Awards Nomination

April - 1 - 2010 Comments

Logan Lerman has received one of the coveted MTV 2010 Movie Awards Nominations for Best Male Breakout Star. His fellow nominees are Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Chris Pine, Quinton Aaron and Zachary Gordon to name a few – not too shabby.

This year’s MTV Movie Awards are June 6th at 9pm Eastern Time, so there is still time to vote. I’m sure all of the cast, crew and fans would love to see him win.

So take a few minutes, visit the MTV site, and vote for Logan to show your respect for all of his hard work on The Lightning Thief (he’s down the page a bit on the right hand side).

Cast At The Big Apple Movie Premiere

February - 7 - 2010 Comments

Thursday, February 4th was the date of the premiere for The Lightning Thief. ET has a video of the actors and Chris Columbus talking outside before the film.

Some things I liked was how Chris Columbus said “There are a lot of comparisons with Harry Potter, but that’s how it is with the Fantasy genre. You know, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars, Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, with fantasy there’s always the underlying similarity.” (I am quoting from my memory).

On what power they would like Logan Lerman said he would like to control water in real life. Brandon T Jackson said he would like to control water or fire and Kevin Mckidd said he would like to have the ability to teleport. “Because I’m lazy!”

Anyways, here you go, the video of the actors and director talking before the film premiere.

The Lightning Thief Cast Press Conference In Athens

February - 3 - 2010 Comments

This is a good one. I appreciate the depth that Chris Columbus shares in each answer in this press conference interview in Athens. Again, there is more talk about 2nd and 3rd or even 5 installments of the book series as movies, so be sure to get out on the first weekend, see the movie and take a friend or two.

All misrepresentations of the book that we know to be in the movie aside, this is still one of the best themed movie(s) to see because it actually can direct kids of all ages, even adults, to research and learn more about mythology and related subjects. And of course, we can’t forget our good friend, Rick Riordan, who will likely see another solid spike in book sales immediately following opening weekend.

Enjoy the video!

The Lightning Thief Photocall In London

February - 3 - 2010 Comments

Here are some new pics from the photocall in London for The Lightning Thief. Check them out. Several of these are very similar shots, but it’s kind of cool to see our favorite actors from the movie close up and personal in their own individual shot too.

I truly looks like the cast members get along really well, which is great. I’m sure that helps make an even better movie.

Cast Interview Atop The Acropolis And Hydra Scene

January - 30 - 2010 Comments

Logan, Alexandra, Brandon and Jake were in Greece a couple days ago and had an interview overlooking the Acropolis! Some points were that Brandon is the only one with a twitter account. Follow Brandon on Twitter by clicking here.

Alexandra visited Greece once before three years ago, and is the only one of the four to do so. (Well, the only one until this interview) Alexandra was cast a bit late, she only had a couple weeks of training. Brandon to play Grover had green tights on, and had to run on his “tippy toes”.

Also, you can download the Movie Score by Christophe Beck on February 8th. All in all, a great interview, it’s about 17 minutes long. “Wait a second! But the video is 19 minutes long!” You are correct. The Last couple minutes is an exclusive look at the Hydra scene not from the book! Enjoy!!

There are two videos, one is the interview plus the Hydra scene, and the second is exclusively the Hydra scene. Both are amazing!

Super Awesome Percy Jackson Art Show

January - 18 - 2010 Comments

Rick Riordan has updated his blog informing us that Books of Wonders in New York is hosting an art show on the art of Percy Jackson by John Rocco on January 30th! Those lucky enough to be in the New York area during that time, you should stop by there and let us know how it was. I’m sure it will be truly awesome!

An awesome event is coming January 30 to Books of Wonder in New York. John Rocco, who created the cover art for the Percy Jackson books, will have an exhibit of art showing how each of the covers was created. He’ll also have color plates of the illustrations from the deluxe edition of the Lightning Thief, and if you haven’t seen them, they are beautiful! A limited number of signed prints will be for sale, if you want to get a piece of Percy Jackson history. John Rocco really helped put Percy on the map by giving us a stunning look for the series.

My editor Jennifer Besser will also be on hand to answer questions about the series. Who knows — she might even give a few hints about what’s coming next. It’s safe to say that without Jennifer, Percy Jackson never would have taken off. She’s been with me from the very beginning of the series, and played a huge role in shaping the books. She was one of Percy’s first champions — a hero’s hero! — and can give you an insider’s view of Percy’s world.

I wish I could attend the event myself, but I’m in lockdown mode working on the new Camp Half-Blood series, so I won’t be doing any travel over the next few months. If you’re in the New York area, though, stop by Books of Wonder. It’ll be a truly unique chance to go behind the scenes and ask questions of the team who brought Percy Jackson to life.

The Books of Wonder page details:

Books of Wonder is very excited to announce that on Saturday, January 30th, from 12-2pm, we will be hosting an event to celebrate the opening of an exhibition of the artwork by JOHN ROCCO for the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series. On display will be the original illustrations for the covers to all five novels as well as the artwork for the color plates from the new The Lightning Thief: Deluxe Edition for all to enjoy – and just in time for the release of the highly anticipated motion picture! Each of the 13 images will be available for sale in a limited edition of just 50 signed and numbered prints created by the artist. Beginning at noon, JOHN ROCCO and JENNIFER BESSER, who edited the series, will discuss their roles in bringing this amazing series to life, take questions from the audience, and sign their books. Though author Rick Riordan will not be able to join us, we will have bookplates signed by him available to go with all books purchased at this event. Ages 8 and up. 12-2pm.
